JONATHAN CHERRY: When did you last see the sunrise?
MAYOWA ADELUGBA: New Years Day, on a plane headed to the Dominican Republic.
JC: Are there any emerging artists inspiring you at the moment?
MA: I’ve been super stoked on the work Rick Erfmann has been doing. Randall Phenning does really great work and has been kind of mentoring me a little bit, very cool dude. I’m also really hyped on what Ryan Lowry, Molly Matalon and Mark Peckmezian have been doing.
JC: What is your current project all about?
MA: I’ve been taking pictures of my skateboard in the woods. Wasn’t really supposed to be anything but now I’ve got like 20 photos of my skateboard in the woods so I guess it became something. I just started a very long term project about college party culture.
JC: Where are you currently living and how is it shaping you?
MA: I live in Albany, NY. Everything about this place influences what I do on a daily basis. How exactly, I’m not sure.
JC: One piece of advice to recent photography graduates?
MA: I have yet to graduate myself, any advice you can give me would be tight.
JC: Any big plans for 2013?
MA: Finish reading ‘Being & Nothingness’ and keep shooting.
JC: Favourite tree?
Interview I did last summer with Mull It Over.
